Meet Alex McDermott.
A New York-based musical theatre performer & dreamer.
Born and raised in sunny Southern California, from a little beach town called Dana Point, Alex grew up in an artistic home raised by her mother who is a professional fine artist. She began performing at the age of 5, went on to study Dance with an emphasis in Contemporary Choreography at San Diego State University, and Musical Theatre at Saddleback College. Alex was a member of the 2016 inaugural graduating class of the Open Jar Institute: Actor Training Residency Program in New York, NY under the direction and mentorship of Jeff Whiting, James Gray, and Stacia Fernandez.
Not only is Alex passionate about storytelling, she also has a huge heart for the ocean and Marine Ecology. Prior to moving to New York, Alex lead a Marine Ecology Field Study for high school seniors from her Alma Mater, Dana Hills High School, to Baja, Mexico. And, yes, Alex definitely confirms the California stereotype, as she was a Stand Up Paddle, Surf, and Sailing Instructor at Westwind Sailing & Paddling up until she made her way to the Big Apple!
Alex writes on her own blog ‘Just A Spoonful Of Sugar’ where she shares some of, “Life’s Sweetest Moments”.
